Out-of-Hospital Birth (required for home and birth center clients)
every fourth Sunday 4pm-5pm OOH Birth is a class specially designed for families planning an out-of-hospital (OOH) birth. You will learn about risk assessments before and during OOH birth, common reasons for transfers to hospital, what to expect during a transfer, and suggestions for improving your chances of giving birth at home or the birth center. We will cover what you need to have on hand, as well as key people who will be present. We will also review when to call to midwife, when to call 911, and what to do if the baby arrives before the midwife. This class meets the state requirements for clients planning an out-of-hospital birth. This class is offered the fourth Sunday of every month, following Everything About Birth -- A Complete Birth Preparation Course. It is strongly recommended that you take BOTH classes if this is your first baby or you've never taken a birth class outside of a hospital. |
Wee Care: Instructions for Newborn Parents
every first Tuesday, 7pm-9pm If you've ever wished that newborns came with an instruction manual, you've found it! In this class designed for expectant parents, you will learn safe and developmentally appropriate techniques for caring for their wee one, including: - feeding basics, - diapering, - bathing, and - calming your baby. You will build confidence in recognizing and responding to infant cues. And you'll develop an understanding of normal infant routines, as well as learn tips and tricks for helping your baby eat and sleep well. This class is everything you need to know before baby arrives. |
Lactation: Pure Milk, Love, and Determination
every third Tuesday, 7pm-9pm Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't mean it comes easy! Most people give up because they didn't have the right information or support. This class will give you the tools to feed your baby with confidence. You'll learn: - how to make sure you're making enough milk, - positions for nursing, - techniques for taking good care of your nipples, - foods, drinks, and meds DOs and DON'Ts. Overcome common obstacles (the boobie traps) with tips and resources from a certified specialist. |
